Meet the Residents of the Equine Advocates Sanctuary
Equine Advocates Rescue & Sanctuary, currently the home of rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules—plus two pygmy goats, has truly become a haven for horses. It is an equine village where horses get to live out their lives in a natural environment that allows them to socialize with each other. If you would like to help the horses living at Equine Advocates Sanctuary, please visit Sponsor a Horse.

Hank the Tank
Hank the Tank was a work mule who was purchased by Equine Advocates at New Holland (PA), one of the worst slaughter auctions in the country. There were 500 mules for sale that day and EA bought seven of them. Most of the others went for slaughter or were bought by other farmers for work. In July 2010, Hank was sent to Cornell Veterinary Hospital when he developed an ulcer in his left eye and they concluded that his eye had to be removed. The surgeon was so sorry to have to do this because Hank is such a gorgeous mule... Hank is still gorgeous even without his one eye. Hank is a really lovable mule who dearly loves treats and lots of attention. |
