The Outdoor Arena is used on a regular basis by staff and volunteers who do groundwork with our horses. Most of the horses at Safe
Home cannot be ridden due to their physical and emotional condition upon arrival here, but they are walked and get used to being
handled. Many had not been handled or given any type of affection for years before arriving at the sanctuary – some take years to
trust again.
In addition, we bring some of our more quiet horses, like Dolly, a Percheron and Queen, a Clydesdale, to meet young visitors.
While large in size, the mares are very gentle and love the attention!
We also use the arena for scheduled demonstrations on natural horsemanship.
