Willow, Rescued Canadian PMU Mare & Chloe, her Offspring

Willow is a former Canadian PMU mare rescued from slaughter by Equine Advocates in 2004.  Willow was pregnant at the time of her rescue and gave birth to Chloe soon after coming to the United States.  After living in Pennsylvania & North Carolina, they both are now permanent residents of the sanctuary.

You can clearly see Willow’s freeze-brands.  The #69 was her stall number and the S in the square is the PMU factory farm where she was turned into a four-legged drug machine.  These mares are not even given names…. just numbers.  PMU mares lead terrible lives and their offspring are by-products of the industry.
