Observations and Comments of a Former Horse Killer

Cathleen Doyle, who spearheaded the historic passage of “Proposition 6” in California in 1998, the first state initiative to ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption, released never-before-seen footage of a former horse killer and killer buyer (middleman for the horse slaughterhouses). The interview was taken with a lie detector and in front of then District Attorney Michael Bradbury. This revealing testimony was released in these three parts on YouTube:

Over 80% of American voters strongly oppose horse slaughter. Since the passage of “Prop 6” in California in 1998, a federal bill that would ban horse slaughter in the US and prohibit the transport of U.S. horses to other countries for the purpose of slaughter, it has been continually blocked and/or opposed by various groups. This includes the Farm Bureau, the Cattlemen, the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the American Veterinary Medical Association, most of the horse councils and all of the Big Ag groups.

Eyewitness accounts and proof of horses having their eyes shot out, their mouths wired, and other atrocities have been documented over the years, but having an individual testify that he not only committed these cruel acts but was taught how to do them by truckers, haulers and trainers, makes this account extremely important in the fight to pass a federal ban on horse slaughter. Equine Advocates was formed because of the horse slaughter issue and remains committed to seeing an end to this unspeakable, disgraceful, and un-American practice.

Strong federal legislation to ban the slaughter of horses for human and animal consumption, and to prohibit their transport to other countries for the purpose of slaughter, desperately needs to be passed!
