Horse Slaughter: What You Can Do

We must all do our part if we want this cruel, unspeakable, and un-American practice to end.

All Americans who want to permanently stop the slaughter of America’s horses and close the borders to transportation of equines from the U.S. to Canada, Mexico, and any other country for the purpose of slaughter need to become proactive. This involves reaching out to local representatives to register your opinion. You can use the links below to find contact information. Phone calls and/or handwritten letters can be very effective.

  • To find the contact information for your House Representative, please go to www.house.gov. Ask your Representative to support a ban on the slaughter of horses for human and animal consumption in the U.S. and prohibit transporting them to other countries for the purpose of slaughter.
  • To find the contact information for your U.S. Senators, please go to www.senate.gov. Urge them to support a ban on the slaughter of horses for human and animal consumption in the U.S. and prohibit transporting them to other countries for the purpose of slaughter.
  • Writing letters to the editors of local/national newspapers, magazines, and other publications is a great way to keep this issue in the news. Also, calling into live talk shows on the radio is another way to get information out to the public about horse slaughter.
