We were honored to host a special birthday celebration for a World War II veteran. Shirley Thomson visited our sanctuary on October 11 to celebrate her 102nd birthday and meet Sergeant York, one of our retired Caisson Horses. Thomson enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served for two years teaching Navy personnel how to shoot the 20- and 40-MM anti-aircraft guns on the ships. She enjoyed meeting Sergeant York and other horses in the Main Barn, and we enjoyed hearing stories about her time in the Navy. Thank you Shirley for your service and Happy Birthday!
