Denny, formerly “Major Deegan,” is a Registered Thoroughbred born on February 4, 2002. When he could no longer race, he was admitted to a State University Equine Studies Program. He had sustained a broken coffin bone and had issues with his stifle, so he was about to be dumped at auction by the school when Equine Advocates rescued him and two other Thoroughbreds, Tim and Monty, on December 5, 2010. Every institute of learning that uses horses in its programs should teach responsible horse guardianship. Denny spends his days with Tim and other Thoroughbreds in a section of the sanctuary we call “A Few Good Men.”
