Emma
From: $50.00 / month
Emma is a Grey Standard Donkey born in 2020. She arrived here on August 18, 2022. As we do not have her exact date of birth, we have designated that day as her “Re-Birth-Day” and celebrate it every year. Our good friend Gerda Silver of Gerda’s Equine Rescue in Vermont rescued her out of the kill pens in Bastrop, Louisiana which are run by the notorious Stanley Brothers. They are responsible for sending thousands of equines to die in Mexican slaughterhouses every year and have been fined and brought up on charges numerous times for violating laws and committing crimes connected to their evil horse slaughter empire. The only way to shut them down once and for all is to ban the slaughter of all equines for any type of food – Period!
Because Gerda does not have a sanctuary, the equines she rescues from slaughter are put up for adoption when they have been rehabilitated. Emma has adapted beautifully to sanctuary life and now lives with Jake, another Standard Donkey, in our “Donkey Serenade” pasture. We are grateful to Gerda for saving this adorable donkey and are happy to provide her with a permanent and loving home.
