Sarah is a big, beautiful Belgian Draft and the offspring of Mariclare, a rescued Canadian PMU (Pregnant Mares’ Urine) mare who resided at the sanctuary before passing away on November 24, 2017. Mariclare was in foal with Sarah at the time of her rescue and was part of a major rescue of Canadian PMU mares conducted by Equine Advocates between October 2003 and March 2004. The mares were all rescued in Manitoba, the heart of PMU country in Canada. Sarah was born in the U.S. on April 20, 2004.
Sarah is a very spirited mare and one of the largest equines at the sanctuary. She loves spending her days with other mares in our “Glamour Girls” pasture.
