Suzie, a Percheron/Appaloosa Cross, was born on April 25, 2004, to Bernadette, who was in foal at the time of her rescue from a Canadian PMU (Pregnant Mares’ Urine) factory farm. Suzie, her pasture mate Lily, and their dams were the first horses to arrive at the sanctuary after it was established on June 1, 2004.
As a foal, Suzie was black, but she turned white like her mother as she grew up. Sadly, Bernadette passed away in 2018. Suzie is a lovable, friendly, and mischievous mare who loves to spend time with Lily and their other pasture mate, Gracie.
