W42ST: As Carriage Ban Nears a Vote, Questions Remain Over Horses, Drivers and Transition Plans

‘Susan Wagner, the president and founder of Equine Advocates in Chatham, New York, a constituent sanctuary of the coalition, scoffed at carriage industry concerns, alleging that the industry is presently sending horses to slaughter.

“One of the questions that a lot of people don’t seem to realize when they say, ‘well, if this happens, what will happen to the horses?’” Wagner began. “Going to slaughter is happening now. If you don’t stop it, it’s just a vicious circle that will never end. That’s what some people need to understand. It’s not that they will go to slaughter, they’ve been going to slaughter.”’

Thank you to W42ST in New York City for speaking with our president and founder, Susan Wagner, about the urban carriage horse issue and the need for a ban in NYC.
