Wild Horse Crisis Among Topics for Radio Woodstock Broadcast at June’s Open Day

Dear Friends,

Saturday, June 7th, will not just be a regular Public Open Day at Equine Advocates. DJ Greg Gattine from Radio Woodstock 100.1 WDST FM in New York’s Hudson Valley Region will broadcast live from the sanctuary from 11 AM – 1 PM EST. He’ll not only talk about our horses and all the fun things happening at the sanctuary that day, but he will cover some serious topics as well.

Greg will interview guests and members of Equine Advocates staff, including yours truly, and I will have some important points to make, including an urgent Call to Action in response to the new proposed “Big Beautiful (2026 Appropriations) Bill” that would put America’s Wild Horses and Burros on the chopping block and pave the way for their mass slaughter. If passed as is, it would slash funding for the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro program by 25% and allow the killing of more than 64,000 federally protected Wild Horses in government holding facilities. What this is really about, as stipulated in Project 2025, is to remove every Wild Horse and Burro from America’s millions of acres of Public Lands so they can be privatized in the name of profit and greed, and used for more ranching, drilling, fracking, and land development. If that happens, these animals will be gone forever. This is cruel, inhumane, un-American, and unacceptable!

The good news is you can listen live to this broadcast from anywhere in the country through Radio Woodstock’s website. Click on the small arrow in the bottom left-hand corner to listen to the program.

Sadly, this bill has already passed through the House of Representatives and has now been sent to the U.S. Senate. What we need is for every American who cares to make just two calls to each of their two U.S. senators.

Contact your senators here.

Tell your senators not to cut the funding needed to protect America’s Wild Horses and Burros in government holding facilities and the wild. The funding that ensures the preservation and maintenance of these majestic animals and protects them from being sent to slaughter needs to remain as it always has been and not be affected by the massive cuts in this appropriations bill, because it will mean certain death for these animals.

We expect a lively crowd on Saturday at our Public Open Day and hope to see many of you there. However, for those who can’t be here with us, please join us on the radio!

With warmest regards,

Susan Wagner, President & Founder
