Equine Advocates welcomed Cazenovia College Professor Dr. Karin Bump of the Equine Studies Business & Management Program and students from her “Horses, Humans, Politics & Pressure” class.
The seminar at the sanctuary, given by Susan Wagner in EA’s Humane Education Center, focused on equine issues, including the need to pass legislation to end horse slaughter, the cruel and inhumane PMU industry and the need for people in various horse industries to take responsibility for the animals they breed and/or own. Susan also talked about the operation of a horse sanctuary.
The class was followed by a tour of the sanctuary. Students had the opportunity to watch horseman & teacher, Billy Smith, who was at the sanctuary to work with one of EA’s farriers and Nelson, a rescued wild American Mustang.
