On Thursday, August 1st, we will throw our biggest party and fundraiser of the year – Equine Advocates 18th Annual Awards Dinner & Charity Auction! This joyous celebration and gala give us the opportunity to shine a bright spotlight on the horse issues most important to this organization, including equine rescue, sanctuary, advocacy and humane education. This event is extremely important to us as we raise vital funding to maintain and operate our 140-acre horse sanctuary in Chatham, NY and care for our 80+ equine residents, most of whom were rescued from slaughter, abuse and neglect.
Our gala will be held at the Canfield Casino, one of the oldest and most historic buildings in Saratoga.
This year, we are proud to honor three outstanding individuals with well-deserved awards. Staci Hancock will receive the 2019 Safe Home Equine Protection Award as the co-founder and the managing member of the Water Hay Oats Alliance (WHOA).
“Over the last thirty years, I have witnessed countless numbers of ‘equine advocates’ grow in ranks across America with their focus on welfare issues: slaughter, rescue, rehoming, second careers and medication concerns,” she said. “In 2019, equine welfare is front and center. I hope I can represent each and every person who has put their time, talents and treasures behind efforts to do what is right for our horses. I am honored to accept the Equine Advocates Safe Home Award on their behalf.”
Carol & Tracy Farmer, who were among the founders of the Kentucky Equine Humane Center, will receive this year’s Ellen & Herbert Moelis Equine Savior Award. From the time they joined the efforts of former Congressman Ed Whitfield, Staci Hancock and others to try to pass the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act back in 2005 , they have been advocates against horse slaughter and strong supporters of equine aftercare and rescue.
Tickets are $250 per person. For more information please call (518) 392-0175 or email: email@example.com
We hope you will join us on this very special night to cheer on our deserving honorees and to show your support for Equine Advocates. We are delighted that Terry Finley, whom we honored in 2018, is chairing this year’s event. The fun-filled evening will feature silent and live auctions with some very exciting items, trips and unique experiences. There will be a cocktail hour during the silent auction, followed by a delectable sit-down, gourmet dinner.
